Gerald Ratner is a British household name and a well-known businessman. He is also a name associated with one of the business world’s biggest falls from grace. Gerald Ratner took over as CEO of the family jewellery chain in the mid 80s, becoming one of Britain’s best known businessmen. He transformed it from 130 stores with sales of £13m, to a public company with 2,500 stores and sales of over £1.2bn. By 1990, Ratner’s was the world’s largest jewellery retailer with profits in excess of £120m. Following a high profile gaffe in which he described one of the products sold in the stores as ‘total crap’, he spent 18 months trying to do damage control but was eventually forced out of the business. Gerald eventually bought and developed a health club which he sold three years later for £3.9m -this was the start of his comeback. He then started his online jewellery business, GeraldOnline which today is turning over some £25m and is ready to go public.

Jack Peters joined Alibaba as Business Development Director in 2016. He is responsible for overseeing growth in the UK, Nordics and Netherlands regions, working with companies to enter the Chinese market and reach the 674 million annual active consumers on Alibaba's platforms. He has a wide and extensive background in retailing, having worked, prior to Alibaba, in senior director roles at both Blokker and Aldi, as well as larger-listed companies such as Metro. Though his expertise is primarily in business development, Jack has broad experience across other areas of business, ranging from strategy to operations.

Aaron has worked in the ecommerce space for 5 years now, with a focus on providing payments and fintech solutions that enable online marketplace sellers to expand internationally and grow their business. Sanja is a senior digital executive with more than 12 years’ experience in delivering sustainable revenue growth for multinationals within the E-Commerce and Fintech industries. As the VP of Global Partnerships at Utrust, Sanja's main focus is to partner with key international players to improve the accessibility of digital assets. Prior to Utrust, Sanja headed multiple international roles at PayPal and eBay, including Head of Marketplaces for PayPal UK and Head of Partnership for eBay Europe. As part of the marketplace executive team at Cdiscount, he manages the business focused on technical product categories, through a network of 12,000 international and French marketplace merchants. Prior to that, Sixte spent more than 10 years in strategy consulting and ecommerce industry across Europe and the United States.

Paul was previously the Group Managing Director at Planet Retail. He has also worked in the retail sector for T-Mobile Stores in Germany in Merchandising & Store Operations. Paul co-chairs the KPMG/Ipsos UK Retail Think Tank as well as the European Retail Think Tank Next Generation Retail. He teaches retail best practice for GS1, the global retail standards organisation and is a regular event speaker and press commentator on the sector.

Vincent has been in the ecommerce industry for the past 16 years. He is currently Head of La Redoute Marketplace department, overlooking the recruitment of new sellers in Fashion, Homeware and Lifestyle categories, the coaching of existing sellers and the management of innovative projects to continue developing services to La Redoute customers and sellers. Prior to La Redoute, he worked for Amazon.com, in France and in the USA, on several Retail roles in CPG categories; in Strategy Consulting; and for a leading video game company, to create Desktop and Mobile websites.

Håkan Thyr is Chief Revenue Officer at Fruugo. He is responsible for accelerating the growth the Fruugo marketplace and he intends to do that by helping more brands and retailers expand internationally with no risk and minimal effort. Prior to joining Fruugo, he held roles as Partnerships Director at ChannelAdvisor, COO at Firmstep and Partnerships Director at Bazaarvoice. Håkan lives in London with his wife and two teenage children. If he has any spare time, he tends to spend it rock climbing. Håkan holds an MSc from Chalmers University.

Simon Irwin is a Director of Equity Research for Credit Suisse in London covering Retail, Online and Sporting Goods. He has been an analyst for more than 30 years, including 7 years in Hong Kong, and has been covering European Retail since 2000, at Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and BNP Paribas. Along with his colleague Szilvia Bor, they follow the largest fashion retailers (Inditex, H&M, Next, M&S), Online Retailers (Zalando, Asos and Boohoo) and Sporting Goods brands (Adidas, Puma) and distributors (JD Sports). Their research involves industry developments, social media and increasingly environmental considerations.

Katherine Sara is a Product Manager on the Wish Experience team. Katherine utilises market and user research to grow the ecommerce business of Wish merchants in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Born and raised in Brazil, she holds a bachelor's degree in business from FAE University and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Katherine has experience in product, marketing, and strategy roles for Nissan, KraftHeinz, and Adobe in Europe, the US, and Latin America.

Since 2007 Claire has been a key logistics partner to many brands and retailers; pure play and multi-channel; high end to high volume; local to global. Her background is in management and buying roles for The Body Shop, Arcadia Group and Oasis Stores followed by sourcing and sales roles for two large fashion and accessories suppliers to high street multiples and independent retailers. Working with the global Seko team, Claire uses her extensive retail and supply chain experience to help clients establish, improve and grow successful logistics operations.
Helen Riley joined ebay Fashion in 2015. Since then her role has expanded to include business development across Fashion, Beauty, Sports and Lifestyle, leading her to partner with a wide breath of businesses from FMCG to luxury fashion. In her current role as Acquisition Manager for ebay, she is responsible for the growth of global brands and high street retailers who wish to reach the platforms UK customer base of 24 million. Helen brings with her over 15 years’ experience across global fashion, retail and e-commerce including buying and merchandising roles at ASOS, Arcadia Group and Heidi Klein.

With a background in retail ecommerce and specialising in marketplaces, Lorna joined GS1’s engagement team to use her experience in trading online to help sellers and marketplaces come together using industry standards to improve buying experiences for customers. She previously ran the marketplace operations for global retailers such as Mothercare, Early Learning Centre, Boohoo.com and most recently the shoe retailer Dune London.
John is the Co-Founder and CEO of action.ai, an award-winning technology company and a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence. Prior to action.ai, John founded a successful mCommerce startup in the UK that he took to Silicon Valley. He has worked as a strategy consultant in Europe and the US, and was a Director of the UK’s largest think tank. He holds a Masters degree and a doctorate from Oxford University and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Nelson Castellanos is Director of Strategic Partnerships - Retail at Cover Genius, one of the fastest growing insurtechs globally. In his role, Nelson is responsible for leading and executing partnerships for some of the biggest retail brands in Europe, while delivering best-in-class user experience. Cover Genius has received dozens of awards within insurance and tech circles for its patent-pending platform and global capability that ensures user-centricity throughout the entire customer journey, an approach that has led to global partnerships with, amongst others, Booking Holdings (NASDAQ:BKNG). Paul has worked within the payments industry for over 20 years. Originally specialising in Fraud Prevention services, Paul has been with Adyen since 2015 with a focus on commercial roles. He has recently joined the Adyen for Platforms team which focusses on supporting Platforms and Marketplaces that wish to deliver flexible secure and International payment services to their customers…simplifying the on boarding and PSD2 requirements for marketplaces, faster payouts and broad geographical coverage.

Krish is a shipping and supply chain executive with more than 17 years of industry experience with companies including FedEx, Pitney Bowes, Neopost, and now ShipStation. An expert in cross border ecommerce, international fulfillment, and supply chain technology, Krish is often quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, DC Velocity, Logistics Management, and Business News Daily. He is currently the Head of Industry Relations and Strategic Partnerships for ShipStation where he is focused on long-term relationships between ecommerce merchants and ecommerce marketplaces.

As Shieldpay’s Group Commercial Director, Tom is on the frontline of customer delight, not only overseeing all commercial activities in the business, but a pioneer in the digital payment space. A chartered accountant with over eight years’ experience within the Big 4 as well as smaller accountancy firms, Tom specialised in private equity and infrastructure M&A, joining the Techstars accelerator and ultimately Shieldpay in 2017. By driving and developing Shieldpay’s growth-focused global commercial strategy for the marketplace, banking, and legal sectors, Tom has spearheaded the positioning of the group as the leader in marketplace payment security.

Al is CEO and Founder of ZigZag Global, and former head of Multichannel at Mountain Warehouse and OFFICE, with over 20 years experience in retail and ecommerce. Al was a retailer for many years on marketplaces running his own electronics business before moving into consultancy and software development. Al has extensive experience of marketplaces, delivery and courier models and technical integrations, ecommerce fulfilment needs with third party logistics providers. Al has worked with multiple retailers helping them to scale internationally.
Fabian Stächelin has dedicated his career to developing e-commerce in emerging countries. Following 7 years at eBay's European and Emerging markets team he has moved on to consult international organizations such as the UN and the World Bank. Fabian Stächelin is the driving force behind the strategic partnership linking eBay and the International Trade Centre - a joint UN and WTO agency - to provide small businesses in emerging markets with access to global e-commerce. He has been a promoter of e-commerce as a meaningful vehicle to foster economic empowerment and progress globally and has led projects in Morocco, Kenya and Central America. Currently he is focused on a pilot project in Central America aiming at connecting women owned SMEs to global markets via eBay. Fabian Stächelin holds a M.A. in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies at the University of Geneva.
Daniel Walton is the Founder and Managing director of UK camping brand OLPRO as well as a regular speaker on ecommerce, sales, and on social media. OLPRO were voted the second best ecommerce site in the UK 2019 by the British Chamber of Commerce and being only nine years old are already becoming an established brand internationally as well as in the UK. Daniel has focused the team at OLPRO on creating the brand and has seen the company grown from the back of it. Having worked in the Outdoor Leisure industry for over 20 years OLPRO was created to do something different for campers and outdoor enthusiasts. As well as selling the product Daniel also uses it, being a keen camper and campervan owner.

Mike Adams OBE
Mike Adams is CEO of Purple, an organisation changing the disability conversation with business. Purple see disability as a value opportunity and Mike is leading the development of products and services which are beginning to transform the landscape across all business sectors. Purple Tuesday, created and co-ordinated by Mike, has achieved national acclaim for its contribution to changing the customer experience for disabled people, including online accessibility. Mike’s previous working track record includes being one of the senior management team at the Disability Rights Commission, Director of the National Disability Team for higher education and co-director of a disability research centre at Coventry University. Mike was awarded an OBE in 2012 for his services to disability.

Joe is the Founder of Thrift+, a service that makes it easier to donate your best second-hand clothes to your favourite charity and earn rewards to spend online. After a short career in strategy consulting, Joe set up the UK's first click and collect app for high street charity shops in 2015, before shifting focus to provide a donation service directly to individuals to help reward them for their generosity and encourage higher value donations. Thrift+ has recently extended their service to include bulk donations from retailers looking for alternatives to landfill and job-lotting of rejected returns and imperfect stock.

Giovanni leads a team of experts based in 7 different regions globally, responsible for the technical integration of key eBay Sellers and partners in Europe. This team provides technical consultancy and support to the eBay community of sellers and developers by integrating their systems with eBay via API, eBay tools or 3rd parties’ solutions. In the last 3 years, Giovanni has been onboarding Europe most known luxury fashion brands. Partnering with fashion experts to ensure the brands’ distinctive identity and required level of trust and authenticity is achieved through the onsite customer experience. Prior to joining eBay, he held roles as Solution Architect, Project Manager and Quality Assurance delivering complex multi-service platform solutions for big clients like Vodafone, O2, Telecom Italia and Orange. Giovanni holds an MBA from the UCD M. Smurfit Business School a PMI PMP certification and MSc in Telecommunication Engineering.

He also works with Amazon HQ in the UK, he was head hunted to provide webinar content for the 3rd party sellers on the platform as they required someone tuned in with the seller community. He is the host of Seller Sessions Live the Summer conference for Amazon Sellers and brands. He is the founder of SellerPoll the annual awards for the Amazon FBA community.

Throughout his career he has nurtured and maintained relationships with some small grass root enterprises to some of the most famous and influential brands for all their UK and EMEANA channels. Jayson is now part of a team developing UK resources to the untapped and emerging markets within the Middle East.

James has been immensely privileged to work alongside and for some great brands in all stages of their development and he now works alongside his colleagues in the middle east developing ecommerce volumes from the UK. Having personally had a long association with the Middle east the commercial landscape has changed massively in the last few years and James now believes that UK retailers are extremely well placed in this marketplace . The desire and appetite for UK based brands is totally untapped and this combined with a young population and a high per capital income really does make the Middle east the place for triple digit e-commerce growth.

Colin is Senior Commercial Manager with Klarna, Europe’s fastest growing payments solution provider. He works with global retailers and brands helping to expand their presence in domestic and overseas markets. Prior to joining Klarna Colin held various senior management roles in ecommerce with eBay, DITA eyewear and eShopworld. He has extensive experience launching online and in-store propositions in European and North American markets.
Kumaran Adithyan is a Trading Director in eBay’s UK business, responsible for eBay’s B2C Fashion business, business development and strategic planning. Kumaran’s role covers setting the strategic direction for eBay UK’s B2C business, acquisition and growth of new categories and brands, the go to market trading plan and the day to day delivery of the Fashion P&L. Prior to eBay Kumaran started his career in strategy consulting and then ran the e-commerce business at Boots.
